Quilted Fabric Crib Rail Guard Tutorial

This Quilted Fabric Crib Rail Guard Tutorial is an original design created by me. It is a simple pattern that even a beginner sewer could complete. This tutorial leads you step by step through designing and sewing a quilted crib rail guard protector.

Once all of your materials are gathered, this project should take about three hours to complete for one full length guard. Depending on the size of the rail that you are covering, it may take more or less time.

This 10 page tutorial is a PDF file which includes 38 color photos with 18 steps. This tutorial also has a simple formula to help you customize a design specifically for your crib rail. This design is intended for rails of uniform width. The best part about this project is that you will be able to match the fabric to the bedding in your child's nursery. And, if you want to cover multiple rails, it will be very affordable to do so.

Fabric Beach Ball

My babe loves his inflatable beach ball. However, I know that the long term fate of an inflatable ball is not good. So, this mama decided to sew him a fabric beach ball. He loves to throw anything that he can get his little hands on. So, the more plushie toys the better. I hadn’t even finished stuffing it when he grabbed the ball and walked off. He just learned to walk recently. He really loves his new plush toy! I also made one for sale in my Etsy Shop as well.

What Baby Wouldn't Love These?

This super soft, "Elfin" hat and booties set in butter cream is so unbelievably soft, you won't be able to stop touching it! I am not kidding - when my 43 year old brother-in-law saw this when I made it for my nieces, he asked me to make one in his size! I drew the line when he asked me to put a Yankees logo on it though...

Anyway, this size would fit a 3 to 6 month old nicely. The booties are cuddly and warm, and the hat is so cute on! I also make it in pale pink and blue. See my Etsy listings at:

Give it to that special mom-to-be, or to the baby she has already worked hard to deliver! This is my most popular hat - I usually sell out of it over the holidays, so buy it now, while it is still available!

SPECIAL - if you buy any of the Elfin hat and booties sets and convo me that you read about this on Blogger, I will ship free of charge!

New Shop Section - for babies!

I've just opened a new section in my Etsy shop for baby items.
Currently there are some old-school style bibs and soon there will be other designs and colours, all with form following function, so to speak.
This batch are made of super soft flannel, like a tribute to my winter bedsheets. If you live in chilly climes and have not yet invested in some super soft, thick flannel sheets, what are you waiting for?!

Now about the colours...I didn't choose pink and blue because I want to put your baby in a box...a gender box, if you will. No, that's just what I happened on in the store and they were so lovely and soft I couldn't help myself. So mix it up! Put the blue on your girl, the pink on your boy...or keep it traditional.

And a final point about the multi-faceted nature of these items...a gave one to a friend for her new baby and her toddler daughter immediately claimed it as her apron. Darned if it didn't fit just right too.
